The Willis Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to charitable giving at a local level. Founded on the premise that locally based philanthropy and volunteerism can strengthen communities, the Foundation works with Willis Associates to identify nonprofit organizations to support.
Established in 2010, the Foundation has supported a range of worthy causes including disaster relief efforts, food pantries, youth programs, and housing and mental health services. With your help, the Foundation can continue to make a difference, one donation at a time.
SEPTEMBER 2013 – Willis of Illinois recently announced that they are teaming up with the Jesse White Foundation to empower kids in the Chicago area with the tools needed to succeed in life. During their annual Willis Foundation Golf Tournament on September 9, Willis Associates presented the Chicago-based nonprofit with a promissory check for $100,000. Willis Associates have agreed to raise $100,000 for the foundation over a three-year period. The Jesse White Foundation provides tutoring, athletic opportunities and scholarship assistance to young people in need.
This year’s tournament, which brought together more than 100 golfers representing Willis clients and carrier partners, raised $80,000, half of which will be put toward the ultimate goal. Funds raised through The Willis Foundation will support a variety of programs sponsored by the Jesse White Foundation.
Since the inception of The Willis Foundation three years ago, offices across Willis North America have established ongoing relationships with local nonprofit organizations to build stronger and more united communities. Willis of Illinois, which includes over 400 Associates in offices in Chicago, Schaumberg and Moline, is one of many groups of Willis employees engaging with a local charity to deliver greater philanthropic results.
JANUARY 2013 - Completing its second full year of operation, The Willis Foundation recently reported another successful year of community giving. The Foundation raised $519,700 for charity in 2012, to be distributed to local nonprofit organizations during 2013. Funds were accumulated through dozens of fundraisers held by Willis Associates and their colleagues, along with local business partners. The Foundation also gave away more than $451,000 to 116 organizations across the country in 2012, dispersing the funds raised in 2011. Local organizations like Cradles to Crayons in Boston, Figure Skating in Harlem, Ronald McDonald House Charities in Eastern Wisconsin, and the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival in California received Foundation grants. The Foundation will continue to work with Willis Associates through the upcoming year and beyond to become even more involved in our communities, with the added goal of establishing long-term relationships with effective, local non-profits in need of funds.
